After all, you don’t want to attempt to buy $7,000 worth of goods only to find that the maximum purchase amount is much less. I don’t recall anything in my contract saying Home Depot or anyone else has to give us a discount.

There are many products and services that are excluded from the Military discount. Home Depot offers an app to get a military discount. The app allows you to log in to your account and register for a military discount. The app has a nifty drop-down menu, and you can easily find out if you qualify.

The above list is not exhaustive, and does not represent a full list of items available for military/veteran discount. You can redeem the military discount 365 days out of the year, and it is no longer restricted to specific holidays like Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Veterans Day. Unfortunately, they don’t do a very good job of explaining the exact terms and conditions of the military discount anywhere on their website. I showed her my DD214 and she said that won’t work, that she will do it this time but from now on I will need some kind of military ID. You can go anytime and purchase anything, no questions asked for your discount. You just have to register your ID at the service desk and show your DD214 and give them your phone # 1 time. When you make a purchase they pull up your phone# and it is automatically applied. The official Home Depot Military discount offers all active-duty military personnel, as well as veterans and spouses, a 10% discount.
Veterans Can Now Use the Home Depot Military Discount
There aren’t many other companies out there that dedicate so much time and money to causes such as these and it’s a real shame. Veterans and retirees of the U.S. military allowed us to have what we have today and active duty military help to make sure we hang on to that. It’s important to remember that a little bit of appreciation goes a long way. The generosity of Home Depot does come with some terms and conditions. Gift cards and lumber are not eligible, nor are building materials, wire, value-priced merchandise, appliances, tool rental fees, and labor items.
Just be sure to bring supporting documentation (military ID, DD214, etc.) as a backup. Home Depot has partnered with Sheer ID, an online 3rd party verification service that’s used by 1,000’s of companies. For example, you may want to buy a washer and dryer at discounted prices from Home Depot to help you save when you remodel your laundry room. Buying appliances at discounted prices from Home Depot can be a great way to save on essential home equipment. The big box retailer has a wide selection of major brands and carries a number of value-driven models. They offer special financing options and free appliance delivery.
You can’t combine a military discount with a contractor’s discount. But, if Home Depot is offering a storewide deal, you may be able to use your military discount on top of that deal. Again, your 10% discount has a maximum annual cap of $400 each year. Once you’re verified, your spouse can create an account and input your information to get their own virtual ID to access the discount. I have never had an issue with Home Depot, but I am a service-connected disabled veteran with an ID that shows the information.
Lowes has a better plan and applied to your “My Lowes” card your able to get your 10% discount on online orders also. First they say Veterans can get the discount, then they say only service connected veterans can get the discount…..screw home depot! I visited a Home Depot in Puerto Rico and bought a sink faucet.
Unlike other retailers, Home Depot does not offer a military discount for gift cards and services. Instead, Home Depot offers a military discount for items that are in stock in the store. There are restrictions to this discount, however. There are exclusions on full-priced merchandise which include Home Depot installation services, special-purpose appliances, and all gift cards. These deals are only available on Thursday, unless otherwise stated.
As long as you’re logged in to your account, Home Depot will apply your discount automatically at checkout. Home Depot also instituted a maximum annual military discount limit of $400 in January 2022. Previously, Home Depot’s 10% military discount was valid for purchases up to $5,000 (a $500 discount), but there wasn’t an annual cap.
However, they do offer a discount of 10% on eligible purchases. The discount is only applicable to in-stock items in the store. It cannot be applied to labor items, special buys, or appliances. It is not applicable to freight and delivery as well.
Additionally, you can’t buy 1,000 electrical outlets and expect to get a discount. This means no having to remember to bring your military ID, DD214, or VA card.
